ART OF THE
WESTERN WORLD - This course,
divided into two
semesters, is a survey of the history of
Western Art from its
recorded beginnings to the present.
It considers major artistic accomplishments
giving
particular
emphasis to concepts and ideas that continue
through time
and across space.
First
semester includes the study of Egypt and
Mesopotamia, Greece and Rome, and
the Middle Ages.
Second semester
focuses European arts from the
Renaissance to contemporary times.
(Students may take either semester
alone or use both
semesters of this course as a
sequence in AREA III.)
