Arts at Damien House

This hospital has a crafts program which allows patients to create articles such as dolls, crosses, and others. These articles are sold to visitors, and all the revenue goes straight to the patients. The handicrafts program serves as a form of physical, psychological, and occupational therapy. It encourages patients to participate in craft-making to maintain strength and mobility in their hands. It creates a sense of community among patients by working together to create different products. It builds friendship and self-esteem. This allows them to focus less on their pain and more on their future and recovery. It also gives the patients a sense of competence, ability, and survival. The hand-craft program at Damien House allows outside people to know about the hospital and allows patients to build a connection with the outside world.
