The 1990s brought Rap and Hip Hop.
Musicians and fans wore heavy gold jewelry. They later turned away from this and
moved to leather medallions and traditional African fabrics. They wore red, green, black,
and yellow, which are colors associated with African nationalism, and
this made its way into mainstream fashion. Followers of rap artists wore huge
baggy jeans with big patterned shirts and heavy black shoes. They had dreadlocks or box cut and high
top haircuts (Feldman, 29, 57).
