Most of this course will be concerned with the theory and concepts of database systems, with the main focus of these on the relational database model. There are two approaches to hands-on computer work in a database course such as this:
create your own database management systemuse marketed products to design and use a database system
We will use the second of these two methods by implementing a database system using Microsoft Access.

REQUIREMENTS: Class participation is required. There will be no make-up tests or
quizzes. In
the event that an exam or quiz is missed for extraordinary circumstances, the final exam
grade will be
used for the missed grade. All assignments are expected to be handed in at the beginning
of the
class on the due date. A penalty of 15% per class day will be assessed to late
assignments.
